Percussion as vocal accompaniment in the central iberian peninsula
Drawn from an early age to popular culture, Isabel Martín has been researching traditional percussion and forms of vocal accompaniment in the Iberian Peninsula and the Mediterranean since 2005. Her training combines learning alongside key figures of roots music with studies in ethnomusicology and social anthropology, integrating academic perspective and fieldwork.
She has deepened her study of Iberian and Mediterranean repertoires, expanding her language toward modal music and diverse vocal techniques.
She is currently part of projects such as Milo ke Mandarini, Cabra and Taracea, presenting traditional, early and newly created repertoires. Alongside her artistic activity, she teaches, sharing her experience in traditional singing and percussion in Extremadura and in various national and international training contexts.
