The double bass or bass is a recently incorporated instrument in the Son Jarocho ensemble, with the Leona being the closest reference to the tradition of a deep sound.
We will take some examples of the bass lines and rhythmic patterns of the Leona in Sones por derecho and atravesado, adapting and developing them for bass instruments. We will showcase rhythmic patterns, accents, and spaces to understand how dynamics work with zapateado, verse, and improvisation, highlighting the importance of distinguishing the groove of each Son.
For this workshop, a minimum level of bass or double bass is required.
