The jarana is undoubtedly the most important instrument in Son Jarocho, as it carries the rhythmic and harmonic parts.
The word jarana has its Arabic origin; an important aspect is its various tunings and the two harmonic pedals it still retains at the ends of its tuning.
This workshop will focus on the sones in both major and minor modes (por derecho and atravesado), and we will work on the rhythmic codes that define Son Jarocho in its cadence.
You can attend the workshop with any plucked string instrument, such as guitar, guitarrón, mandolin, etc… It is important that you have an intermediate/advanced level in order to follow this workshop.
