Starting with the intention of raising greater awareness about the vocal instrument in Son Jarocho, this workshop addresses the different singing styles that have emerged in other times and regions of the Sotavento. Taking advantage of the vocal knowledge that the instructors have gained in their training as jazz musicians, a space for free improvisation (circle singing) is opened, allowing students to explore and practice their creativity by creating their own melodies based on tradition.
We will also explore the structure of the verses, which we are fortunate to share and know have their origins in Spanish literature.
